Winter storm warning issued for the Sierra

 

LAKE TAHOE (KRON) — Winter storm warnings were issued for the northern Sierra Nevada and the northern Rockies. Pinecrest, California, reported a midday total of 4.0 inches of snow.

Lake Alpine, California reported a midday total of 3.0 inches of snow. Dry conditions prevailed across the Southwest due to a ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific

Snow showers also developed across the Cascades and the western Great Basin.

Northstar California resort said 10 inches of fresh snow fell in the area overnight. The ski resort said it will be “making for perfect terrain this Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.”

According to Northstar, 14 inches of snow fell in the area over the past week.
