OAKLAND (KRON) — A man was arrested after a high-speed police pursuit on the Bay Bridge Thursday morning, according to San Francisco Police Officer Vu Williams.
Police began to pursue a vehicle around 9 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the Bay Bridge when the driver did not stop to pay the bridge toll, Officer Williams said.
The driver of the red Honda Civic pulled over at first, but once officers got out of their vehicle, the suspect took off.
While fleeing from police, the driver side-swiped two other vehicle.
Just before the Fremont Street exit on westbound I-80, the driver hit a box truck and a semi-truck, according to Officer Williams.
The Honda was not drivable, so the suspect attempted to flee on foot, Officer Williams said.
Officers then arrested the suspect.
Officers said the car was not reported stolen so they are unsure why the man was trying to evade them.
