STOCKTON (KRON) — The City of Stockton is attracting some star power Monday night as part of its fight over water.
Water officials said they have to treat the water supply. The water for some homes comes from the Delta and includes organic material.
When the city mixes it with chlorine, it generates potentially dangerous and unhealthy byproducts.
People in Stockton are so outraged that they invited clean water advocate Erin Brockovich to a town hall meeting on Monday night. Her fight for clean water was the focus of a movie.
Brokovich has called the situation in Stockton the next Flint, Michigan, where the water has been tainted with lead.
Opponents say chloramine causes rashes and cancer and want the city to find another solution.
