SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A man who allegedly attacked a CHP officer in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood will be charged for stabbing him, the district attorney’s office said.
The incident happened Tuesday morning when officers were called to the Essex Street on-ramp to the Bay Bridge for a man walking in the street. While investigating, the CHP said the man suddenly attacked one of the officers with a knife.
The officer suffered life- threatening injuries but is now recovering and remains in the hospital. Police were able to track down the suspect, identified as 44-year-old Noel Corpuz. He was taken into custody.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in Department 9, 11, or 12.
