Google: Trump still dominating the conversation

MANCHESTER, N.H. (WWLP) – Donald Trump may have come in second in the Iowa Caucuses, but he has been well in first in terms of the conversation across the country. Google has been tracking searches for the Republican candidates, and at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, (where Saturday night’s debate is being held) they visualized the searches in a county-by-county map.

Donald Trump is highlighted in red on the map. Given the large amount of red from coast to coast, it clearly shows that people have a lot of interest in the Trump candidacy, regardless of whether or not they plan on voting for him.

Locally, Trump has been the most-searched GOP candidate in western Massachusetts. In fact, in all of New England, only Grafton County, New Hampshire shows another candidate- Senator Ted Cruz- receiving more searches than Trump.

But searches may not mean votes- in Iowa, which Cruz won, he is the top-searched candidate in only a handful of counties.
