New San Jose courthouse gets go-ahead for move-in

SAN JOSE (BCN) — A new courthouse in Santa Clara County got the go-ahead to let staff move in starting on July 30th, two days before the building’s grand opening, court officials announced Friday.

The new building called the Family Justice Center Courthouse at 201 N. First St. in San Jose will consolidate services that have been provided out of six leased buildings.

Inside the new building will be all services related to the family including family court, juvenile dependency and drug court, according to court officials.

Presiding Judge Rise Jones Pichon said court officials are excited to be reaching this point and the new courthouse will help those who come before the court.

Though the move-in date is July 30, staff from the Park Center Plaza, Sunnyvale, Notre Dame and Terraine courthouses will be moving in throughout the month of August.

Court officials in the next few weeks will provide information about the scheduling of hearings during the move.
