North Carolina Gov. McCrory in minor crash after Super Bowl

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory sustained no major injuries after the vehicle he was riding in was rear-ended shortly after the Super Bowl ended at Levi’s Stadium.

California Highway Patrol Officer Ross Lee said the governor’s vehicle was traveling on State Route 237 just after 8 p.m. Sunday when it was hit from behind by a Mercedes.

Lee said McCrory complained of pain but declined treatment.

The governor got in another vehicle and continued to his destination.

A call to McCrory’s office and an email message to a spokesman have not been returned.

After the Carolina Panthers lost 24-10 to the Denver Broncos, McCrory tweeted: “We are so proud of our Carolina @Panthers for an amazing year. Showed the USA what NC is made of. We will #keeppounding.”
