Driver arrested on suspicion of DUI after he strikes bicyclist

FAIRFIELD (BCN) — Police arrested a 47-year-old driver on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs after he allegedly struck a bicyclist in Fairfield Saturday night.

At around 9 p.m., police and firefighters responded to the 600 block of East Tabor Avenue for a report of a collision, according to police.

Upon arrival, officers found a 33-year-old Fairfield resident suffering from severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle while he was riding his bike.

The victim was taken to a hospital.

After an investigation, officers identified the driver as Gary Berg, a transient. Berg was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail, police said.
