Man arrested for DUI after crashing car into window display in Petaluma

PETALUMA (KRON) — A man was arrested early Monday morning on the suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after he crashed his vehicle into a building in Petaluma, according to police.

Officers responded around 1:38 a.m. to the 100 block of Petaluma Boulevard North, police said.

Police found a vehicle had driven through the window display of a closed business.

The driver, 22-year-old Jason Lopez of Petaluma, and a passenger were uninjured in the collision and remained on scene to speak with officers, according to police.

Police said officers could smell alcohol emitting from Lopez’ breath, and a DUI investigation found him to have a blood alcohol content of .20 percent.

Lopez was arrested and booked in the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and held on $5,000 bail.

Police said the vehicle and business sustained major damage, and the city of Petaluma Building Inspector red tagged the business until repairs could be made.
