OAKLAND (BCN) — A suspect in a shooting death in the Laurel District of Oakland earlier this month was arrested last week and charged with murder, Oakland police said today.
Oakland police said 34-year-old Clyde Staten Jr. was arrested Feb. 12 by Oakland police and deputies with the U.S. Marshals Service. They did not immediately disclose where Staten was found and arrested.
Staten has been charged with murder for the shooting death of 20-year-old Daniel Gibson of Hayward on Feb. 7. Gibson was found suffering gunshot wounds in the 3600 block of Brown Avenue at 10:11 a.m. Despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police did not immediately release any information about any possible motive for the shooting or what evidence connects Staten to Gibson’s death.
Staten is being held in Santa Rita Jail without bail and is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday to enter a plea, according to jail records.
