Firefighters rescue 600-pound man from burning house in Fremont


FREMONT (KRON) — Firefighters rescued someone from a burning house fire in Fremont Tuesday morning, according to authorities.

Fire crews responded at 6:09 a.m. to a 1-alarm house fire in the 5500 block of Hughes Place, fire officials said.

Upon arrival, crews found a man who was unable to walk, possibly wheelchair bound. The crew was able to evacuate the man from the home.

A second crew investigated the house and determined no other residents were inside.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire by 6:40 a.m., fire officials said.

The victim was transported to this hospital by ambulance to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
