DANVILLE (KRON) — Two people are dead after an alleged murder-suicide occurred in Danville on Monday night, according to police.
Officers responded to a home on Cross Bridge Place around 6:15 p.m. to reports of fumes coming from a closed garage, police said.
When officers arrived, they entered the garage where they found a man, identified as Paul Sween, 63, lying unconscious.
Sween was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was found asphyxiated in the garage.
Police then discovered a woman, Chalan Sween, 55, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
A firearm was recovered from the scene, police said.
Police are actively investigating the incident.
Danville police, along with neighbors, are questioning what the circumstances in this home may have been to end things in this way.
“I think when you look at a crime of violence, I think there is always a time to step back and try to think of how this happened and what could have led up to this,” Lt. Allan Shields said. “I think those are natural reactions anyone has no matter where you are at.”
No further information has been made available at this time.
This was the first homicide of the year in Danville.
