MADERA COUNTY, CA (WCMH) – Police in California were led on a chase they won’t soon forget by what appeared to be a tiny unicorn.

The unicorn, Juliette, is a 5-year-old pony that lives on a farm owned by Sandra Boos. Juliette is dressed like a unicorn to pose in pictures to help Boos make a living.

On Wednesday, Juliette escaped during a photo shoot, prompting some unbelievable 911 calls.

“The calls were coming in as a unicorn running around out there on the roadway,” Officer Josh McConnell of the California Highway Patrol told KSEE-TV.

The seemingly legendary creature led police on a truly legendary chase that lasted more than three hours.

“She was running amok in a couple of orchards with some white blooms so she kind of blended in with the scenery as well and she’s not real tall so she turned out to be stealthier than we imagined,” said Sandra Boos.

With the help of a California Highway Patrol helicopter, the unicorn was captured by family friend Renee Pardy and her horse, Shady.

“The call came out ‘the unicorn was in custody,’” Boos said, “and I think as tense as the situation was I think it was the comedic relief that was needed at the time and I laughed and I cried and I thanked God.”
