CONCORD (KRON) — A new and perhaps welcome sight at the BART Station in North Concord.
It is a police watchtower, designed to provide eyes from the sky and to discourage crime. Recently, there have been car break-ins and parking lot hold-ups at a few BART stations.
The mobile watchtower on wheels will move around, rotating from one BART parking lot to another.
It was paid for with Homeland Security funds.
While drivers parked their cars for the day recently, thieves have been stealing the catalytic converters from underneath the vehicles.
And they are more than likely being sold for some fast cash.
