Powerful storm floods roadways, topples trees

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A powerful weekend storm brought damaging heavy rain and gusty winds to the Bay Area.

The storm continues Monday morning causing a mess for morning commutes as it floods roadways and downs trees.

Highway 92 just east of Half Moon Bay through the mountains was shut down Sunday night in multiple areas due to several fallen trees. The highway is now open.

The storm has also caused major flooding that has forced officials to shut down roadways and highways.

The Alameda off-ramp on northbound I-880 in San Jose is closed Monday morning due to the massive amount of standing water in the roadway.

California Highway Patrol officials are warning drivers to slow down and remember to turn on their headlights when driving with their wipers on.

The storm is expected to last most of the day on Monday, especially during the morning commute. Possible thundershowers are also in the forecast.
