Rainy weather is back in the Bay Area and continues through Sunday

(AP) – Rain and snow are back in Northern California after a midmorning lull.

Forecasters expect up to 4 feet of snow in the higher crests of the Sierra Nevada and up to 18 inches in Truckee and South Lake Tahoe.

Caltrans officials said Saturday that traffic on Interstate 80 is stopped at Truckee because of a traffic collision.

Another storm system is forecast for Sunday, but after that, the rest of the week should be sunny and dry throughout California with temperatures in the 70s and 80s, the National Weather Service reports.

A soaking late this week gave a brief blast to Southern California and tied up traffic in Northern California on Friday.

More than 3 inches of rain has fallen in Marin County’s Kentfield in the last 72 hours.

The unincorporated town of Venado in Sonoma County has seen nearly 8.5 inches of rain fall within the last 72 hours.
