Stanford basketball fires Johnny Dawkins

STANFORD (KRON) — Stanford has fired men’s basketball head coach Johnny Dawkins, the school announced on Monday. Dawkins has coached the team for eight seasons.

Dawkins led the Cardinal to a 156-115 record during his tenure since 2008, winning the NIT Championship twice. The team went as far as the Sweet Sixteen in the 2013-14 season.

The 52-year-old played in the NBA from 1986-1995 and was a member of the Duke basketball staff from 1998-2008.
