RENO, Nev. (AP) — Dozens of law enforcement cruisers and officers on motorcycles are leading a funeral procession from Reno to Roseville, California for a CHP patrolman who was killed in the line of duty.
Officer Nathan Taylor died at a Reno hospital late Sunday after he was struck by a car while directing traffic on Interstate 80 during a snowstorm in the Sierra.
The 35-year-old man from Gold Run, California was married and had three young sons.
Fire trucks flashed their lights on the overpasses above I-80 in downtown Reno on Wednesday as the procession began a 120-mile trip over Donner Pass near where Taylor was hit and knocked several feet into the air outside Truckee, California.
Edward Tagliano, a 62-year-old Vietnam veteran, was among those who showed up outside the medical examiner’s office in Reno to pay their respects.
