UNION CITY (KRON) — A big rig crash caused major traffic delays on Interstate Highway 880 in Union City Wednesday morning, according to California Highway Patrol.
A car hit a stalled big rig around 4:19 a.m. at the Alvarado Niles Road on-ramp, authorities said.
All northbound and southbound lanes of the freeway reopened around 9 a.m.
The big rig landed on the center divider causing concrete debris to spread all over the freeway.
CHP said a tow truck headed to the crash also got into an accident near the incident.
CHP was issued a Sig-alert for both directions of the highway.
Drivers told KRON 4’s Will Tran that they have been stuck in traffic for up to two hours.
