SAN DIEGO (KRON) — A Southern California boy is swinging for the fences.
The Little Leaguer is dominating his favorite sport, despite being unable to use his right arm. Nine-year-old Will Baker contracted a rare virus a year and a half ago that attacked his nervous system.
But that did not stop him from playing the game he loves.
Surgeons helped him regain the use of his hand, and a sling gives him stability.
He can lift his arm just enough to switch his glove from one hand to the other. That is the result of Will’s endless drive and determination.
Will hopes to one day play professional baseball.
And his dream is not just a pipe dream.
Pitcher Jim Abbott was born without a right hand.
He played 10 seasons in Major League Baseball.
