Authorities found the body of 2-year-old Clayton Foskey in about four feet of water 150 yards from his home in Hudson. A death investigation is now underway.
Pasco County Deputies got the call at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday that Clayton had wandered away from his home at 12600 Chenwood Avenue. Several agencies searched the ground, water, and air before finding the little boy.
“For the ones that found the child, that’s the things people in law enforcement don’t talk about, but we’ll live with for the rest of our lives,” Sheriff Chris Nocco said. “And it goes back to… yes, there’s a death investigation going on. We’re going to make sure that anyone who’s responsible for this, if this could have been prevented. They’re gonna be brought to justice.”
Nocco says there is video of a house not far from the child’s home that depicts the boy walking down the street at 7:04 p.m.
A lot of questions remain. Investigators are working with the boy’s mother Roxanne Potts Thursday morning.
“We want to find out why this child was out there, how long the child was out there, how was able to get out of the house. So I can tell you right now, our major crimes detectives are working a death investigation,” Nocco said.
