San Francisco Public Defender Jeff Adachi called Zamora “a great public defender and a wonderful person.”
According to Zamora’s professional LinkedIn profile page, she was the “Principal Trial Attorney at San Francisco Public Defenders office for 29 years” and previously studied at University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
“She had a heart of gold and boundless compassion,” Adachi said in a statement. “She was a fearless advocate for her clients. As a trial lawyer, Marla took on some of the most challenging cases, including the triple-murder trial of Edwin Ramos. She served as an incredible mentor to so many young lawyers”
“Our entire office is heartbroken and will miss Marla dearly. Our hearts go out to her daughter, family and friends,” Adachi said.
Currently, there are no outstanding suspects and there is no threat to the community, according to police spokeswoman Officer Grace Gatpandan.
