SALINAS (BCN) — A 35-year-old Salinas man was found guilty by a jury of driving under the influence of alcohol and for using or being under the influence of a controlled substance for the second time in Monterey County Friday, according to prosecutors.
On Oct. 2, 2014 at 12:42 a.m., Ricardo Guzman failed to stop at a stop sign at Denner Road and San Juan Grade Road in the unincorporated community of Bolsa Knolls, prosecutors said.
Officers responded to the area and after noticing Guzman smelled of alcohol, with red and watery eyes and poor balance, conducted a DUI investigation.
Prosecutors said evidence at the trial proved he had around three alcoholic drinks before driving.
Sentencing for Guzman will occur on May 11, at which point he faces a maximum of two years in jail and five years of probation, prosecutors said.
