BRENTWOOD (KRON) — A crash occurred last week on eastbound state Highway 4 in Brentwood leaving a man dead. According to the Contra Costa coroner’s office, the man is identied as 52-year-old David Sherman.
Sherman, a Discovery Bay man, died after a chain-reaction collision involving four vehicles on eastbound Highway 4 at Sand Creek Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicle crash was reported to the CHP at 3:13 p.m. Wednesday that a Dodge truck collided with the back of a Ford Fusion, which then led to two other Ford vehicles being rear-ended because of the force of the impact.
Sherman was the driver of the Ford Fusion, who was found trapped and unconscious inside his vehicle, which was leaking gas. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to CHP.
One victim from each of the other Ford vehicles were transported to Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch for treatment of injuries, CHP officials said.
The driver of the Dodge truck also had minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital, according to the CHP.
As of Thursday, alcohol or drugs were not being considered factors and no one had been arrested.
