Petaluma police seek suspects using counterfeit currency

PETALUMA (KRON) — Police officials are asking for the public’s help in search for two suspects who entered the Smoke Depot in Petaluma and used counterfeit to purchase merchandise, according to police officials Monday.

On May 8, 2016, at approximately 3:45 pm, two suspects, male and a female, entered the Smoke Depot on 223 N. McDowell Blvd., and used counterfeit currency to purchase merchandise.  After the transaction a store employee discovered the currency was counterfeit and contacted the suspects in the parking lot.

The employee told the suspects the currency was counterfeit and they stated they would return to the store and pay with another form of payment.  Both suspects were then seen leaving the area in an unknown color Honda Accord, according to police.

Police describe the first suspect as a Hispanic male adult, 6 feet tall, thin build, dark hair, with a mustache and goatee.  The second suspect was described as a White female adult, 5 feet 8 inches tall, thin build, with long brown hair.

The Petaluma Police Department is asking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects.
