Two men arrested for ramming Fremont police car

FREMONT (KRON) — Two men are behind bars on Monday night on suspicion of ramming a patrol car in Fremont.

It happened Monday morning in the area of Roberts Avenue and Howe Court.

Police said officers attempted to pull over a white van for a traffic enforcement stop at around 12:33 a.m. However, the driver suddenly made a U-turn, accelerated, and rammed into the patrol car, police said.

One of the men ran into a nearby canyon but was later found by officers.

Police later found that the white van was stolen.

Both men, 23-year-old Alec Bevington and 42-year-old David Teller, were booked into the Santa Rita Jail. They are both Fremont residents.

Bevington was charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, stealing a car, and evading police.

Teller was charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer and for stealing a car.
