FAIRFIELD (KRON) — A high-risk sex offender has moved into a residence in Fairfield, police announced Thursday.
Juarez Demetris, 79, was recently released from prison and moved into the 2100 block of N. Texas Street under supervised parole, according to police.
Demetris was convicted in 1977 of lewd or lascivious acts with a child and then again in 1996 for lewd or lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, lewd or lascivious acts with a child 14 or 15 years old, and continuous sexual abuse of a child.
The 79-year-old man is described as a Hispanic male with black hair, brown eyes. He is 5’8” tall and weighs 160 lbs.
Demetris is required to register as a sex offender with the Fairfield Police Department every year and when he changes residences.
High-risk sex offenders are serious offenders who have been identified by the California Department of Justice as having a high risk of re-offending and who may pose a greater danger to the public than other offenders.
