SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) — San Francisco police are involved in a standoff with a domestic violence suspect at a Mission District apartment building Friday morning.
It began when the suspect’s wife returned to get her belongings, police said.
Police have surrounded a building at 1803 Folsom St., at the corner of 14th and Folsom streets, since about 10:30 a.m.
An officer at the scene said they are waiting for a suspect to come out of the building.
Another resident at the apartment building stranded outside said police had been called to the building at about 5 p.m. on Thursday.
They returned Friday morning to take the man into custody, but he barricaded himself in his apartment, according to police.
Police Thursday granted the man’s wife a temporary restraining order against her husband, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.
When police returned Friday morning to arrest the man he barricaded himself inside their apartment.
The apartment is an interior unit, Esparza said. Police have asked neighbors near the unit to shelter in place, but no one else.
Esparza said nothing indicates the man has a weapon and no one else is inside the apartment with the man.
No streets are blocked off in the area.
