SAUSALITO (BCN) — Police arrested a 28-year-old Oakland man on suspicion of prowling Tuesday morning in Sausalito.
Derrick Oliver was arrested shortly after 11:45 a.m. when officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 100 block of Crescent Avenue.
The caller reported seeing someone walking on private property, looking through the windows of homes and knocking on doors, police said.
An officer responded and spoke with Oliver who was walking in the area. The officer discovered that Oliver was on parole for burglary and that he was convicted of two other burglaries in 2015 in Napa County, according to police.
Oliver is waiting to be sentenced in those cases, police said.
Officers also located a female suspect who was allegedly hiding in the backseat of a parked rental car.
Police allege that she is Oliver’s girlfriend and she had driven him from Vallejo to Sausalito.
Officers did not arrest her.
Officers said they also found a stolen 1995 Acura Integra nearby and are looking into whether Oliver was involved in the theft.
Oliver was also arrested on suspicion of violating his parole. He was booked into the county jail.
