Milpitas police arrest two teens accused of breaking into cars overnight

MILPITAS (KRON) — Milpitas police have arrested two teens accused of breaking into cars overnight, according to Lt. Henry Kwong.

Police said on May 11, residents on Laguna Drive, San Andreas Drive, Hermina Street, South Main Street, Dixon Landing Road, and Tiny Street told police that someone broke into their cars parked on the street overnight. Eleven cars were broken into at that time, police said.

Residents gave police surveillance video of the suspects.

On May 15, a police officer saw two people walking on the sidewalk of the Calaveras overpass. They appeared to be similar to the suspects seen in the surveillance video, police said.

When the officer approached the two, they were arrested for theft and auto burglary. During the investigation, officers found the two suspects had just broke into four cars parked on Horcajo Circle and three cars parked on Greathouse Drive.

The suspects have been identified as 19-year-old Raymond Lee Smith, of San Jose, and Jonathan Daniel Taylor, 18, of Sunnyvale.

Smith and Taylor were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail.
