Teen arrested after officer finds drugs in his car

NEWARK (KRON) — Newark police arrested a teenager Friday night after an officer found him with multiple drugs in his car.

An officer walked into a local 7-Eleven store when he noticed a car without a license plate, Cmdr. Mike Carroll said.

The officer smelled marijuana when he approached the vehicle, Carroll said.

A teen inside the car later told the officer he had marijuana in the vehicle.

Police searched the teenager’s car and found marijuana, methamphetamine, cash and cocaine, Carroll said.

Pedro Mota, 18, of Newark, was arrested for possession of controlled substances, possession of drugs for sale and transportation of controlled substances.

Mota was booked in Santa Rita County Jail.
