Car fire briefly shuts downs Hwy 101 in Marin County

MARIN COUNTY (KRON) — Highway 101 in Marin County was briefly shut down Tuesday morning due to a car fire just north of Redwood Dump Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fire was first reported at 5:29 a.m. and a Sig-alert was issued for the area by 5:40 a.m., CHP officials said.

The firefighters had the fire put out before it started up again.

The fire was completely extinguished by 6:18 a.m. and the traffic alert was lifted.

There were no injuries following the car fire, but the vehicle was destroyed.

CHP officials said drivers should expect residual delays.
