Teen girl killed in downtown Oakland shooting, 3 others hurt

OAKLAND (KRON) — A teenage girl was killed, and three other people were injured after a shooting in downtown Oakland on Tuesday evening.

The incident was reported at 5:41 p.m. at Franklin and 13th streets near the Tribune Tower, police said.

Three of the victims are in stable condition. The 17-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to authorities.

The victims of the shooting are males and females, ages ranging from mid-teens to early 20s.

The teen girl was attending a vigil for two teenage boys who drowned over Memorial Day weekend at a reservoir in Stanislaus County. It’s not clear what led to the shooting about two blocks away or if it was connected to the memorial.

The shooting happened near the Golden Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant, located at 1301 Franklin Steet.

The Oakland Police Department responded to the shooting.

No suspect information has been released by police in connection with the shooting.
