FREMONT (BCN) — A 25-year-old woman was arrested in Fremont on Saturday morning after allegedly spitting on an officer, according to police.
At 9:24 a.m., a caller reported seeing a young woman acting strangely and carrying a knife in her hand in Central Park, police said.
The caller told police the woman seemed upset and was walking toward the Teen Center, located near Lake Elizabeth in the park.
According to police, officers were able to locate the woman, who became verbally confrontational and would not comply with officers’ requests.
Police said the woman then spit on one of the officers before being taken into custody with a spit hood on to prevent further contamination and exposure to her saliva.
A search of the woman’s purse revealed that she was carrying a steak knife.
She was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed dirk or dagger and battery on a peace officer.
