SONOMA COUNTY (KRON) — A Santa Rosa couple was rescued by a helicopter early Monday morning after becoming stranded in Sonoma County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said at 4:40 a.m. an H-30 arrived near Lake Sonoma to assist Sonoma County sheriff’s deputies with locating missing boaters.
The sheriff’s deputies searched the area using a watercraft, however they were unable to locate the couple.
The H-30 was able quickly find the boat using GPS coordinates given by the missing couples mobile phone.
They found the 32-year-old female and 37-year-old male near the area.
CHP officers landed the H-30 in a field and hiked about 300 yards to rescue the couple.
The CHP said neither party required medical assistance, and they were secured into the aircraft to be transported to sheriff’s deputies who would assist in recovering their boat.
