ORINDA (KRON) — A residential burglary suspect was arrested Tuesday morning in Orinda after officers found him armed with a shotgun.
Patrick Devine was arrested in the first block of Underhill Road where authorities found Devine crossing the street outside of the home with the weapon at around 7:30 a.m.
It was later determined that the weapon was stolen from the home.
Police say the 34-year-old Devine resisted arrest and got into a vehicle. Officers then approached the vehicle and finally arrested him.
Officers found more firearms and knives in the car, as well as possible narcotics. Some of the firearms were stolen from the Orinda home and some of which are unaccounted for, police Chief Mark Nagel said.
There were also several knives strewn throughout the car, as well as burglary tools, credit cards, other stolen property and substances that are being tested as possible narcotics, Nagel said.
There were no reported injuries as a result of the incident.
“When someone’s walking around with a gun like that — that could have gone another way, but we’re thankful it didn’t,” Nagel said.
