Woman struck by train in Hercules, airlifted with head injury

HERCULES (KRON) — A train struck a woman in Hercules Sunday afternoon sending her to the hospital, according to police.

Officers responded to the area of Sycamore Avenue at Forest Run at 3:41 p.m. on reports of a train versus pedestrian accident.

Upon arrival, police located a 39-year-old woman on the ground next the tracks with a large cut on her head.

The woman was alert and wanted to leave the area, however agreed to be airlifted to the hospital for further assessment.

The train operator remained on scene and cooperated with officers.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Railway Police.
