Pregnant woman dies after Wal-Mart parking lot crash

MARINA (BCN) — A 25-year-old woman who was four months pregnant died Saturday afternoon in Marina following a crash in a Wal-Mart parking lot, according to police.

Around 12:13 p.m., police and firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 150 Beach Road, police said.

Upon arrival, officers found a woman pinned underneath a vehicle.

Emergency personnel were able to remove the victim from underneath the vehicle. She was immediately taken to a hospital, where she and her unborn child later died, according to police.

Police have identified the victim as Alexandria Tomasello.

The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.

Investigators determined alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash.

Investigators are continuing to determine whether criminal charges will be filed against the driver, police said.
