SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) — Two people were arrested Saturday night after they tried to rob another person at an ATM in San Francisco’s Stonestown neighborhood, police said today.
Officers responded at 8:05 p.m. to the 500 block of Buckingham Way on a report of the attempted robbery. Two suspects pointed a gun at the victim but then fled and drove away in a white vehicle, police said.
Officers caught up with the suspects’ vehicle on Sunset Boulevard and attempted to stop the driver. But a short pursuit ensued instead, according to police.
The driver drove through a red light at Sunset Boulevard and Wawona Street before their vehicle collided with another vehicle, causing injuries not considered life-threatening to its occupants, according to police.
Officers recovered the gun, which was a fake pistol.
Officers arrested both suspects on suspicion of attempted robbery, conspiracy, assault with a deadly weapon and resisting or delaying a peace officer.
The suspect who was driving was also arrested on suspicion of evading a police officer and hit-and-run, both felonies.
