AUBURNDALE, FL (WFLA) – A baby died after her father ran her over in his heavy-duty pickup truck in Auburndale Thursday evening, according to the Auburndale Police.
It happened around 7 p.m. in the 200 block of Polk City Road. According to police, the mother, Anayeli Soto, put her 7-month-old daughter Yvette Flores in the car seat on the ground next to the right rear door of the Ford F-350. The mother went into the house to grab something.
The girl’s father, Freddy Flores, was behind the wheel of the Ford not knowing the child was on the ground.
Another family member needed to leave and the truck was blocking the way so Freddy started the truck and pulled it forward. That is when police say he drove over the baby in the carrier.
A Polk County Fire Rescue ambulance rushed the girl to the hospital but the doctors couldn’t revive her due to the extent of her injuries, according to APD.
Detectives are investigating the crash. They said there was no indication the father was impaired when the incident happened.
