EAST PALO ALTO (KRON) — On February 4, 2016 at approximately 1:12 a.m., East Palo Alto Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Embarcadero Road and Greer Road in Palo Alto to investigate a sexual assault.
The victim informed officers that as she was walking home a male subject offered her a ride and she accepted it.
The victim noticed the suspect was not driving in the direction of her home and she requested to be let out of the vehicle.
The suspect refused to let the victim out of the vehicle and drove her to an unknown location in East Palo Alto where he sexually assaulted her until she was eventually able to escape from the vehicle.
The victim underwent a sexual assault examination at which time an unknown DNA source was recovered. The DNA source was entered into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) and a match was made on a possible suspect.
The victim later positively identified the suspect and detectives were able to secure a $1,000,000 arrest warrant for him.
On July 1, 2016 at approximately 8:30 a.m., detectives were conducting surveillance and took the suspect into custody without incident.
The suspect was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for sexual assault and kidnapping.
