Suspicious package found in Mountain View deemed safe, street reopened

MOUNTAIN VIEW (KRON) — There was a suspicious package found in Mountain View near the Caltrain station on Friday morning.

Around 9:00 a.m., a suspicious item was found in an abandoned building located in the 200 block of Hope Street. Authorities closed off the street.

Surrounding businesses to the area were evacuated and Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad was on the scene assisting Mountain View police.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. Mountain View police deemed the package safe, posing no danger.

The package was an old military device, according to police.

Hope Street reopened around 10:30 a.m.
