Antioch police investigate shooting leaving one person injured

ANTIOCH (BCN) — Police in Antioch are investigating a shooting that occurred Friday during a reported altercation.

Officers responded Friday to 33 East 7th St. on a report of a fight and learned on the way to the scene shots were fired, police said.

Officers observed a vehicle fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed and pursued the vehicle into Pittsburg, where the driver eventually pulled over, police said.

The officers detained the driver and realized he had been shot, police said.

A stolen firearm was located in the vehicle, police said.

The man was taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound that was not considered life threatening, and he was later booked into the Contra Costa
County Jail.

Police have not released the man’s identity.

Back at the scene, officers located evidence of a shooting with multiple guns, blood and evidence two vehicles and an apartment were struck by
gunfire, police said.

There were no other reported injuries.
