REDWOOD CITY (KRON)—A man who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death in San Mateo last year entered a not guilty plea Thursday for reasons of insanity, according to San Mateo County prosecutors.

Anthony Kirincic, 22, of Redwood City entered the plea and a judge will see a doctor’s report of Kirinsic’s mental state on Sept. 7.

Kirincic is now in jail without bail.

He was charged for domestic violence and served 120 days in jail before the incident. Kirincic allegedly stabbed his girlfriend 34-year-old Elizabeth Straw to death on Nov.28 at her San Mateo home.

Police found Straw with stab wounds and she later died at the scene.

Surveillance footage at Kirincic’s parent’s home and a manhunt lead to Kirincic’s arrest on Nov. 30.

A pretrial conference is scheduled for Oct. 11.
