Boy injured in Fremont 2-alarm apartment fire

FREMONT (KRON) — One person was injured in a Fremont apartment fire on Monday afternoon, according to firefighters.

The 2-alarm fire happened on the 4400 block of Central Avenue at around 2:54 p.m. One person was treated for smoke inhalation, firefighters said.

The fire was later contained to one unit at around 3:21 p.m., but firefighters are expected to be on scene for awhile.

Tthe injured person is a special needs child who was at home with his family when the fire broke out, firefighters said. He is now being treated at the hospital.

Despite the fire being contained to one apartment unit, the smoke spread to two or three other units.

Four families have been displaced due to the fire.
