SONOMA (BCN) — A 3-year-old child who died after being struck by a truck at an intersection just outside of Sonoma on Sunday evening has been identified as Owen Todeschini, according to the Sonoma County coroner’s office.
The incident happened around 6 p.m. at Railroad and Verano avenues, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Todeschini was inside a stroller with another child. As he and his family crossed the street within the crosswalk, a Toyota Tundra struck them, according to Sonoma Valley Fire & Rescue Authority officials.
Todeschini, a Sonoma County resident, suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, where he later died.
The other child in the stroller, as well as Todeschini’s other family members, all escaped injury, fire officials said.
The driver of the truck stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision, according to CHP spokesman Officer Marc Renspurger.
