SANTA CRUZ (KRON) — The Santa Clara County District Attorney announced Monday that a man has been denied parole for a 1984 murder.
58-year-old Michael Perrin is serving a life sentence at Tehachapi State Prison.
Perrin is one of two transients who tried to rob Raul Lopez while he was walking home at night in 1984. The men allegedly threw Lopez over a bridge.
A representative from the District Attorney’s Office said Perrin would be a threat to public safety and the Parole Board agreed.
The board called the 1984 murder heinous.
Perrin is eligible for parole again in five years.
