LIVERMORE (KRON) — Police in Livermore are looking for the owners or anyone with any information about a cat who was shot with an arrow.

On July 7, a family found the black cat with an arrow through its body on their front lawn on Honeysuckle Road in the Springtown area, according to the Livermore Police Department.

The family called animal control to pick up the cat.

The cat underwent surgery at an animal hospital to have the arrow removed and is now recovering at a shelter, according to police.

The cat has a microchip that linked back to the original shelter from where the cat had been adopted.

Police are looking for the owner or any witnesses who may have seen the animal cruelty.

The cat is described as male and medium-sized.

On June 4, officers investigated a similar incident in which a cat had been shot at with a pellet gun on Yosemite Drive. In that incident, the cat needed surgery costing about $6,000, Ribiejo said.

Police, however, do not believe the two incidents are related.

Anyone with information is asked to call (925) 580-9665. Callers can remain anonymous.
