SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The man that was found dead Wednesday inside San Francisco’s Westfield Shopping Centre has been identified as Frank Galicia, a 28-year-old resident of San Francisco.
Police are investigating the death as a homicide after the man was found dead at 10:15 a.m. inside San Francisco’s Westfield Mall along Market Street.
The body was found in a stairwell at the mall near the Jessie Street Entrance shortly after it opened.
The Westfield Centre is a very busy mall. Police believe that there is a strong chance someone saw something. They are asking anyone who is in the area at that time to call them.
“We’re encouraging anyone who might have been in the area around 10:15 or hours prior to contact the police department because you never know what might have been suspicious that doesn’t seem suspicious until people see this,” Officer Grace Gatpandan.
According to KRON’s Dan Kerman, Galicia worked at the Sons and Daughters restaurant.
The owners issued the following statement on Galicia’s death:
“We are shocked and devastated by Frank’s passing – we are a small team that operates like a close knit family and he will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and condolences are with Frank’s family and friends at this difficult time. “
The restaurant is closed Thursday due to his death.
Authorities have yet to release the cause of death.
