SAN RAFAEL (KRON)—The San Rafael Police Department and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office are now investigating an in-custody death Thursday morning.
It happened at the Marin County Psychiatric Emergency Services at Bon Air Road in Greenbrae at 1:18 a.m.
Officers found Silivenusi Pacelli Namato Ravono, 46, was taken to the Emergency Department at Marin County General Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
Ravono left the hospital and staff told the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities found Ravono near South Eliseo Drive and taken to the psychiatric emergency.
When officers took off his handcuffs, he became violent and started fighting with them.
Ravano then became unresponsive.
Authorities tried reviving him. Emergency crews arrived and also attempted to resuscitate him.
Crews pronounced Ravano was dead.
One deputy had a head injury and was taken to the hospital. He has now been released.
